Chess 4 Charity
Chess 4 Charity is a semi annual chess tournament, created and launched by 2 grade school kids, to raise money for charity. It’s social, it’s fun and it’s for all ages and skill levels.
Thanks to your help, Chess 4 Charity 2013 was a complete success!!
The kids raised over $5,000 for Hurricane Sandy victims through the Red Cross!
About 200 people came (including about 70 chess players and their families).
On Super Bowl Sunday, 200 people came to the Chess 4 Charity event in Vienna, Virginia. It was created by two elementary school kids,
In 2011, Gabby (then age 8) & Garrett (then age 6), came up with the idea of holding annual charity chess tournaments. Their parents helped them make their dream a reality. In 2011, they raised $2,000 for the Ronald McDonald House, which supports hospitalized kids & their families. This year the kids raised over $5,000 dollars for Hurricane Sandy victims!
Gabby and Garrett encourage others to walk in their footsteps, hoping other kids get the idea that they can do charity events too. As our kids say, “even if we're just kids, we can still make a difference!”
